Were it Not for Land and Beaches
-for Jaime Moreno Villareal
If not for lands and beaches there wouldn't be any waves, no undertow, no sea spray; the sea wouldn't get anywhere, would not fulfill its missions, would not encircle islands, would not go from sea to sea (Where would it go to and why?); it wouldn't stick out its tongue. It would contemplate the moon like a bored dog, and some days, not always, might chase a cloud.
